I am a poet until the day I die.
Perhaps longer, if I try.
Although MS and I did meet
It never did defeat,
The poet inside.
She will always be alive.
No I can no longer teach a class.
That was great! Knew it wouldn’t last
Because nothing you Love last for long.
Just a matter of time till you sing a new song.
This poem will be here long after I die.
And that gives me comfort, allows me to sigh
I exist because I write it. In Hawaii, I wrote I exist in the sand.
Then it washed away with the tide without me lifting a hand.
I was 14 and not sick! But life travels quick .
And my MS grabbed me. I wasn’t so slick
To escape disability. But here is the trick,
When life throws you a curve ball, Just swing the bat.
Hit or Miss you’re in the game, simple as that.
I’m 46 and I still tick, That’s my motto this year.
Next year it’s still not so clear!
But I do know, I will write. So I exist.
